Pinterest is one of the best social media platforms for sharing images. With nearly 70 million users, millions of pictures are pinned every day. For industries like new home sales, it is almost a “must” to have a presence on Pinterest. Many prospective buyers create “Dream Home” boards where they pin images of houses, kitchens, bathrooms and other pictures that express ideas they’d like to incorporate in their future home. As a new home sales professional, if you use Pinterest correctly, images of your model homes and renderings could end up on lots of “Dream Home” boards. As a result, you can generate traffic to your website and your model homes from people who create those “Dream Home” boards and everyone else who sees and repins them! How can you make sure that your homes will be seen by potential buyers? Check out these tips!
Be sure your pin description is detailed: Many people find things on Pinterest that interest them by searching. If your pin descriptions include the terms they search for, your pins have a better chance of being seen. So, when you create a new pin, be sure to include your community name, town/city, region and state in the description. For example, if you have a new home in Raleigh, North Carolina near the Research Triangle area, be sure to include all of this information in the description. If you are not descriptive, your pin can be lost in the thousands of other pins for that area.
Use Pinterest place pins: Pinterest place pins connect with Foursquare location abilities to map where pins are located in the world. If your new homes are located in populated areas where Foursquare activity is high, you will be able to place your pins into that region, town or even road on the Pinterest place map.
Pin helpful area content: The home itself is usually not the only concern buyers have. Buyers think about an area’s economics, school districts and community characteristics. Creating pins with this information will reassure a potential buyer that purchasing in this area is a good choice. Pin community events, local restaurants and area statistics to gain interest in the location of your new homes.
Create group boards for your area: Group boards allow other Pinterest users to add pins to a board for all within the board to see. Sharing your home images on a group board about new homes can bring new visitors to your Pinterest page where they can learn more about the community and homes that are available. Doing so will help you remain top-of-mind when these potential buyers reach the point of purchasing.
Share pins to other social media accounts: Connecting your Pinterest account to other platforms such as Facebook and Twitter can cross-promote your new pins. Visitors to your Facebook and Twitter accounts may see your pin on these accounts and click to visit your pin. Do not do this with every single pin, but with pins you would like to highlight and promote.
